Our Challenge: Voices for Peace,
Partnerships and Renewal
|
The
58th
Annual DPI/NGO Conference will provide the forum for a dynamic and
diverse gathering of civil society representatives in the week preceding the
2005 World Summit of international heads of state. More than 2,500
representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are expected to
gather in New York September 7-9 to demonstrate their support for the work
of the UN in its 60th year, especially its efforts to eradicate poverty,
promote human rights and enhance collective human security through
international cooperation and partnerships with civil society.
|
This year the SSND Delegation will include representatives from around
the world. Sister Ann Scholz, Director of the UN/NGO Office, will be joined
by Sister Laura Jean Spaeth from the General Council, Rome, Italy; Sister
Anne Marie Gardiner, Executive Director of Salvadoran Enterprises for Women,
Baltimore Province; Mr. Tim Dewane, Director of Global Justice and Peace,
Milwaukee Province; and Sister Janet Druffel, Educational Radio, Santa Cruz
de Quiche, Guatemala, District of Latin America.
