Of particular concern in all of our ministries is the establishment of a just society. We call ourselves to embody gospel values and to live the social teachings of the church.
Working toward the enablement of persons and the promotion of human dignity, we contribute to positive systemic change in society.
(You Are Sent, Constitution and General Directory of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, GD 33a)

School Sisters of Notre Dame are called to be deeply inserted in the world, to address the needs of all of God’s creation, and to transform the present global reality by making Christ visibly present through their lives and their ministry as educators.

Sisters live and work in more than 35 countries around the world. Their internationality broadens the scope of their concern and readies them to serve people of various cultural backgrounds. Together they witness to the possibility of overcoming national and cultural barriers to realize the oneness of all in God.

As educators with a global vision, School Sisters of Notre Dame are especially sensitive to the needs of women, children, and those who live in impoverished conditions. SSNDs strive to create a global community where human dignity is respected, the environment is treasured, spirituality is nourished, and justice is accomplished.

In this spirit the School Sisters of Notre Dame
bulletWitness to reconciliation and unity in a divided world by the way they live together;
bulletEducate with the conviction that the world can be changed through the transformation of persons; (YAS, C 22)
bulletAct through the international Shalom Network to work for peace, justice, and the integrity of creation;
bulletBring the needs and concerns of the world to the global community through affiliation with the United Nations.
